I invite you to this page with the hope that it will connect you to the most sublime source of your humanity. I am aware that Life, with its incessant creative energy, moment by moment, seeks vehicles to shape realities that arise from higher states of consciousness. This page aims to become one of them and is nourished by the profound observations and teachings of great scientists, thinkers, writers, artists, and spiritual teachers of every age and religious tradition.
I am driven by three goals. First, to provide a different way of understanding and interpreting what is manifested daily in our economic, social, political and cultural sphere. For this, I use my credentials and professional experience: I am a doctor in Political Economy, a university professor, researcher, lecturer, essayist and international consultant. I observe, with concern, the assault of non-renewable natural resources, the environmental deterioration, the warming of the Earth, the growth of socio-economic inequality in advanced countries, the advance of corruption in rich and poor countries, the debasement of politics, the resurgence of intolerant nationalism and sectarian religiosity and, finally, a deep spiritual crisis that demonizes the “other” and alienates us from our deepest, true Self. Without a doubt, these are challenging times.
Second, I prod the kind reader to face this painful and worrisome reality in a different way. Because if we want to change it or, better said, transform it, we must first transform ourselves, that is, each of us must tap a state of consciousness that is much deeper than the habitual. This is precisely the primary responsibility of every individual and the first step to strengthen family and community life, cultivate responsible citizenship, provide our companies and governments with practices for the common good, and bequeath to the generations that follow us an inheritance we can all appreciate and be proud of. To do so, it is only necessary to rediscover a dimension inherent to all but which we keep hidden, more vast and profound than the conceptual and logical intelligence that defines the mind. It is the dimension that welcomes reflection, intuition and empathy. It is the dimension from which springs wisdom, authentic creativity and the spiritual greatness of the human being.
Third, I underline that we face the challenges better when we adopt a holistic and healthy vision of life. On the night of December 31, 2007, I had the good fortune to meet Irmgard and since then we are life partners. Irmgard opened my eyes to the benefit of living in the “here and now” and nourishes her soul in contemplation of the breathtaking beauty of the Italian and Austrian Alps. She delights my palate with delicious dishes that she prepares and that are very good for your health. She will share with you the recipes and hints for best cooking. I can anticipate that you will love them.
I implore the kind reader who shares this journey not to take with much seriousness the internal and external voices that sow doubts about the possibility of transformative change. And if fear paralyzes you, do not resist it. Just acknowledge it only as a negative energy, welcoming it as a transient visitor who is fated to leave. With practice, you will feel the company of three great ones that also met fear and transformed the world in the last century. Three great leaders that inspire this page: Gandhi, Martin Luther King and Nelson Mandela.
Thank you very much.
